SM Visits Cleveland's Oldest Market
A visit to Cleveland's West Side Market was an opportunity for SM students to explore healthy eating and sample some of the market's wares.
Sports Med In the Spirit of Halloween
SM got into the swing of Halloween by distributing candy to the ECE preschoolers. Say, why is Mr. Kernan in charge of the candy?? SM students worked together to decorate their door for the Halloween door contest.
Sophomores Amazed by SM
Visiting sophomores were wowed by Sports Medicine, especially when Mr. Kernan manipulated a kneecap!! SM students led other hands-on activities as they tried to entice the visitors to enroll in their program for next fall.
SM students took part in Early Childhood Education's Santa's Workshop by lending some help to the preschoolers as they strung Fruit Loop necklaces. And some SM students demonstrated good coloring skills.
A Sports Medicine senior from Mapleton received a first place rating in the Sports Medicine event at the regional Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) contest. By her win at the regional level, she qualified for the state HOSA competition. Congrats!
SM seniors were able to apply and show off their knowledge with their final projects. The required projects must be related to the student's career-technical area of study and include a written research paper and an oral presentation in front of a panel of judges. This SM senior chose to expound on runners' injuries.
SM Meets Guys With Gloves
Visiting 6th grade boys learned about caring for injuries during their time in SM at the Guys With Gloves event. Activities included learning to wrap an injury and the proper way to put a backboard under an "injured" victim.
SM Student Honored
A junior SM student from Ashland was named Junior Student of the Month for April. He was honored at the May Board of Education meeting. Congrats!
