Partner with Ashland County-West Holmes Career Center

In order to prepare confident, competent, career-ready graduates, we partner with companies throughout North Central Ohio to deliver hands-on learning experiences critical to student success.

What Are Externships?

Externships are experiential learning opportunities, similar to internships, that give students short, practical experiences in their field of study.

As a partner, you ensure the best training and experience for members of the future workforce while receiving quality assistance at your worksite, at no cost to you. Your partnership opens a world of opportunities for our students and provides you with a valuable onsite observation of potential future employees.

On Your Terms

You may accept as many students in career/program specific tasks as you need.

Note: Our students are covered by the Career Center’s liability insurance.

 Benefits of Partnership

Work with Eager, Newly Trained Students

Through externships, students gain invaluable experience observing procedures that only an externship site can provide. This experience builds confidence and competencies, assets any future employer will appreciate. Students in externships can help fill gaps in your staff to get important tasks accomplished.

Open Communication

Our instructors will communicate with your site’s supervisor to monitor each student’s progress. In turn, you have the opportunity to give feedback on each student’s performance.

Lower Recruiting Costs

Many of our students have proven to be so valuable during externship rotations that when an opening arises, organizations end up hiring them after they’ve completed their programs. However, as a partner, you are under no obligation or expectation to employ students at the conclusion of rotations.
