Essential Office Technologies

Offered at Ashland County-West Holmes Career Center

Earn your high school diploma and learn the skills you need to succeed in an office environment.

This program will prepare you to obtain your high school diploma, sit for the certification exam, and pursue a pathway to higher education.

In this program you will learn:

  • Computer and online skills including Microsoft Word,  data entry, and telephone order entry
  • Telephone customer service
  • Bank deposit and reconciliation

Program Cost and Admission Requirements:

This program is offered at no cost if you successfully complete and obtain the program requirements. You are eligible for this program if you are at least 22 years of age or older and have not yet earned your high school diploma, equivalency, or GED®.

ACT WorkKeys is a requirement of this program. The three WorkKeys assessments (Applied Math; Graphic Literacy; Workplace Documents) must have a minimum score of a 3 in math with an overall score of 14 is required for Adult Diploma Program students.

Phlebotomy Technologies

Offered at Ashland County-West Holmes Career Center, 1783 S.R. 60, Ashland, Ohio 44805

 

Phlebotomists are responsible for the collection of samples required for laboratory analysis, i.e. blood, stool, urine, etc. At the conclusion of your program, you will be prepared to complete the National Healthcareer Association’s Certified Phlebotomy Technician exam. Passing this exam is a requirement of this program.

In this program you will learn:

  • The profession of phlebotomy to accurately perform the appropriate pre-analytical processes of laboratory testing
  • HIPPA, infection control, and safety standards
  • Soft skills (i.e., professional attitudes, conduct, and dress) that are necessary for obtaining and maintaining gainful employment in the healthcare community
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification

Program Cost and Admission Requirements:

This program is offered at no cost if you successfully complete and obtain the program requirements. You are eligible for this program if you are at least 22 years of age or older and have not yet earned your high school diploma, equivalency, or GED®. Individuals must NOT have any previous or pending disqualifying offenses.

Course Hours:

The phlebotomy technologies program consists of 100 classroom hours, held at the Ashland County-West Holmes Career Center and 100 externship-training hours held at assigned off-site medical facilities. Participants cannot pass this class without completing all 200 hours of the program with a minimum attendance of 90% and minimum of 73% GPA.  (In some cases, that will require up to a three-week leave of absence from work in order to complete the externship requirement).

Welding Technology

Earn your high school diploma and learn the skills you need to weld.
This program will prepare you to earn your high school diploma and teach you skills for certification testing.

In this program you will learn:

  • Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) OR
  • Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
  • Theory
  • Safety
  • Virtual welder practice
  • Prepare welds for certification test

    This program is offered at no cost if you successfully complete and obtain the program requirements. You are eligible for this program if you are at least 22 years of age or older and have not yet earned your high school diploma, equivalency, or GED®.
