Job Training Coordination
A Bridge to the Future
The two Job Training Coordination (JTC) programs offered at Ashland County-West Holmes Career Center endeavor to offer more opportunities for students with disabilities who may be served best in a career-technical environment.
Two JTC programs, Hospitality and Tourism and Mechanical and Maintenance Training, are offered along with academic classes.
Students in the Hospitality and Tourism program will focus on basic culinary, hospitality, and employability skills taught by an experienced culinary instructor. They will be working in a functioning restaurant-style kitchen with attached classroom and restaurant facility while they learn basic cooking and food safety skills. Students may also assist in the Career Center's restaurant.
Students who enroll in the Mechanical and Maintenance Training program will work with a qualified, experienced instructor in a lab equipped for learning the basics for mechanical-related careers. They will have the opportunity to use machines and tools required for future employment.
Academics will be taught by a qualified intervention specialist in a resource room and at a level that will enable students to be successful academically. Students will be completing 2 credits each in English and Math and 1 credit each in science and government/economics. They will also be learning employability skills during the two-year program.
