Overview

A variety of financial aid options may exist to cover all or a part of your training tuition.

The basic types of aid for Career Development Programs:
 (When applying for aid, the school code for ACWHCC is 031170.)

1. WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act).  Also, contact any county's Ohio Means Jobs office for funding options (please plan six weeks prior to program start date for this process).
Trade Adjustment Act (TAA)
Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation of Ohio (BVR)
 

2. Pell Grant:
Can be applied to a Career Development Programs (600-900 hour). The Pell Grant is based on need and does not have to be repaid. Award amounts are based on the previous year’s income and probably will not pay for the entire program.
APPLY NOW: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ (This is completely FREE. If there is a fee, you are not on the correct site).

 

3. Federal Direct Loans:
For approved programs 300 hours or greater. Student loans must be repaid after the student leaves the program.

Direct Loan Application
a. Complete the FAFSA application
b. Contact the Financial Aid officer and receive the
Financial Aid Award Notification.
Tell the Financial Aid Office how much you would like to borrow. Remember you will have to pay
everything back with interest!
Choice 1: tuition only
Choice 2: tuition plus living expenses.
c. Go to http://www.studentloans.gov/
Complete:
1. Entrance Counseling
2. Master Promissory Note (MPN)
(you will need your pin number from your
FAFSA Application and 2 names, addresses, and
phone numbers of people not living with you)

 

4. All students receiving financial aid must acheive satisfactory progress, (90% attendance and 73% academic averages). More information on types of financial aid is available through the Financial Aid Advisor.
